Dental Crown?!

Question: My husband just informed me that he bit something hard this week and now his porcelain crown is hurting. He is worried that he did something to the crown which he just got a year ago. Is there a chance he might have cracked it? I have heard that if it is cracked then it probably wasn't a very good crown in the first place since he has only had it a year. Also, is it possible that it could be rubbing on the tooth next to it and causing some sensitivity and the pain? It does seem to hurt him when it would rain and be cold weather coming in and I know that it is supposed to rain and turn cold tonight.

HELLO,
DID YOUR HUBBY HAVE A ROOT CANAL BEFORE THE CROWN ON THIS TOOTH?
THERE MAY BE A POSSIBILITY OF A FRACTURED TOOTH IF THIS TOOTH HAS SOME MOVEMENT.
HAVE HIS DENTIST ADVISE YOU AS TO WHAT THE REASON FOR THE PAIN IS.
IT MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS TRAUMA FROM THE BITE WHICH SHOULD CLEAR UP IN A FEW DAYS.

He might have damaged the bone that the crown is attached to. He should really check with a dentist, and dont worry about the cost nothing is more important than your health.

Don't panic it might not be as bad as you think!

Sometimes when you bite down hard on something you can bruise the ligaments around a tooth, this can cause pain and sensitivity.

See how it goes over the next few days and then get it checked by the dentist if it is still not back to normal. Also most crowns are guaranteed for 1-5yrs so even if it needs replacing you might not have to pay for it.

Qualified Dental Nurse

have the dentist check it out ... if it is damaged, or the tooth below it, then it needs to be fixed ... a piece of the food could also have gotten lodged between the crown and the tooth next to it, that can be very painful and hard to get free sometimes ...
