Is Plax plaque loosening rinse any good?!

Question: Does Plax rinse really loosen plaque or is it just hype? Also, what rinses are good after brushing?

Dental hygienist here. Plax does not kill anything. It is simply a pre-brushing rinse. You swish with it, and the swishing MOTION helps to loosen up plaque on your teeth before you brush. So you could swish with tap water and get the same effect. My advice: save your money.
Post-brushing rinses vary. Listerine does effectively kill bacteria, but contains a high concentration of alcohol which can have a drying effect on your tissues. I like Listerine, but not for everybody. There are some other rinses out that contain a different ingredient call chlorine dioxide--Closys is an example. These rinses don't dry out your mouth, but they aren't effective for everyone either. What you end up using will depend on your needs/meds/lifestyle---ask your hygienist or dentist (whoever knows your mouth best) for a personalized plan. Or try different rinses to see what works best for YOU. Best of luck, and don't forget to floss!!

I don't know about loosening plaque, I would assume it does. But it definitly kills germs, which cause plaque and bad breath. So I would say yes, it works. Listerine is a tried and true one.
