Is it possible to get a canker sore on your gums?!

Question: On the side of my mouth, on my gums, I have what looks like a canker sore.
It is pretty painful, and I was wondering if it might be a canker sore. And what I should do to help it heal.

Yes. I have gotten them most of my childhood years and throughout my life. They are not as frequent. I have gotten them a lot as a child and had to have them "burned" out.

I have also gotten them when I bite the inside of my mouth.

Stress can cause them also. I now have a prescription from my dentist in case I get anymore. It is a paste and it works wonderfully. It doesn't burn like saltwater or things like that. The only thing I do not like about it is that it tends to spread out on your teeth. It is is called It is called Triamcinolone Acetonide Dental Paste USP, 0.1% . If you go to your dentist, ask him/her about it.

Yes, you can get a canker sore on your gums. try swishing with warm salty water. It will sting, but help it heal.

absolutely, they can be anywhere in your mouth, I hate them. As the first person said, swishing slat water helps as well as numbing pastes like oragel.

If it is on the part of your gums that is tight against the bone and you did not do any trauma to yourself, NO. This would be a cold sore or Herpes Simplex sore. If it is on the tissue not hard/tight against the bone, yes. Rinsing with hydrogen peroxide helps keep it clean and healing (avoid alcohol rinses like Listerine until it heals). They do make patches for cold sores now you can buy at the store that you place on the spot and it dissolves to help it heal faster.
