Are my wisdom teeth giving me a tense jaw?!

Question:

Are my wisdom teeth giving me a tense jaw?

About 2 weeks ago when I got my xrays done at the dentist I saw that my wisdom teeth are impacted. Since then, it seems like my jaw has gotten really tense for no reason at all. My teeth are already crowded so could my wisdom teeth be the cause of this?

Answers:

It could be your wisdom teeth, or it could be that your teeth need to be adjusted, or a combination of both...do you chew a lot of gum, ice, or grind your teeth at night? You may want to look into having a custom night guard made for you teeth. Do you have wisdom teeth on the top and the bottom? Does your jaw mainly hurt right by your ear? Try massaging that area in a slow circular motion. Also, you can try applying pressure to both sides with your hands, hold you tongue at the roof of your mouth and slowly open and close your jaw about 5 times. Do this daily in the morning and evening. If you do not feel results, check about having your wisdom teeth removed. It is healthier to have them removed since they are nearly impossible to keep clean! Hope that helps!
