Filling on upper tooth... Is it suppose to hurt 1 hour after getting it?
Ok, I touched my tounge to my new filling and it shot pain up the side of my freakin face. Now I'm reluctant to get anything near it. Could it just be a swollen nerve from the operation? I do not have a sinus infection (that I know of) and I'm going to wait a few hours before I call the dentist. If pain continues yes I will call back. My question is.... is that at all normal? Yes, it was a deep filling and I'm hoping he didnt hit the nerve (a root canal would suck).
Answers:
A tooth is not normally sensitive to just a tongue running over it. If the filling was deep, yeah, you know you could be looking at a root canal, but what you might want to ask your DDS first, if this continues to give you more grief in a couple of hours and you want to try to hang onto it, ask him if he would consider putting an IRM temporary sedative filling in it. Just a thought and might help calm it down before considering the infamous Root canal! Good luck, hope you feel better.
