Question about having crowns put on my teeth?!

Question:

Question about having crowns put on my teeth?

Tomorrow I go to the dentist to get crowns for my four front teeth. Tomorrow they have me down for an hour appointment. Then in two weeks, they have me down for two hours. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what they do during the first and second appointments? I never had them done before so I'm a bit nervous!

Answers:

4 teeth crowned is a big procedure. Different dentists break up appointments in different ways but this sounds like the first appointment might be preparing the teeth by shaving down the teeth just enough on every side to allow space for the crowns, and being that it is your front teeth they may want to have time to make really nice temporary crowns. The second visit would be for taking impressions of all four teeth. Either that or they may decide to do two teeth at a time. Each dentist has a certain way they like to do things and crown are a very precise thing so they usually give themselves plenty of time to do it just right.
The other case scenario is they might be able to get all 4 teeth prepped, impressed and temporary crowns made in the first visit and the second visit two weeks later may be the insertion appointment. How's that for confusing???:o) Good luck.
