I had a root canal last week and the temporary filling from my molar is now gone!

Question:

I had a root canal last week and the temporary filling from my molar is now gone.?

I know I grind my teeth at night and I'm sure that caused this problem. I don't have any pain or swelling at all, I am just worried about my now hollow tooth. It takes about a month to get an appointment with my dentist. What should I do?

Answers:

Don't worry. You can go to the store and look next to the floss for temp fill or temporin (temporary filling) Use a Q - tip to dry the hole and then use the Q - tip to push a small amout back down into the hole (DO NOT LEAVE A BIG BUMP/GLOB) only enough to cover the bottom of the hole, not enough to fill the hole thing. Remember not to eat sticky or crunchy things for 1 hour and replace as needed. You may also want to try wearing a night guard to prevent tooth wear/breakage. They have over the counter ones at the store also.
