Tooth neuralgia?!

Question:

Tooth neuralgia?

can you have neuralgia in your tooth or gums?
if so what is the best way to treat it?
could i have nerves removed?
many thanks

Answers:

Taking the nerves out of your tooth (root canal treatment) would be the very last resort. Also, whenever an RCT is done, the tooth needs to have a post, core and crown put on it.

Ask your dentist if the neuralgia can be managed with medications. Tagretol is given frequently for trigeminal neuralgia, and gabapentin is also frequently prescribed for chronic nerve pain. Go for an evaluation and see what can be tried.

I hope you feel better, and good luck.
