Does Trident actually help your teeth at all?!

Question:

Does Trident actually help your teeth at all?

Its says that when you chew it, it helps clean and protects your teeth. Also it says that it helps fight cavities.

Answers:

Yes, chewing sugarless gum like Trident after meals is good for your teeth.

It does two things:

1 - it helps clear the sugar in the food you ate out of your mouth, which retards the growth of bacterial plaque (the germs grow best on sugar).

2 - it stimulates salivation, and your saliva has calcium bicarbonate, which is a powerful buffering agent that can protect your enamel against acid attack.

The key is moderation. Don't chew gum all day and risk overloading your jaw joint and muscles-- Just after meals.

Hope this helps.
