A metallic taste in the mouth is a common complaint and it's not life threatening.

I went to college with a girl who had this and you could smell it quite strong on her breath, really metally. She ended up just needing a filling on that tooth.
Its an infection, this can be cured by a trip to the dentist, you may just need a filling thats all.
