Question regarding abscessed tooth with 15-yr old root canal.?!

Question: 5 days ago, I began endo treatment for abscessed tooth on old root canal. Unrelated, I had trigeminal neuralgia on same side. I got antibiotics 3 days ago.

It's still painful. I have been using oxycodone and sublingual lorazepam, and "pain aid"--acetaminophen, aspirin, salicylamide, and caffeine. I feel my trigeminal nerve kicking in.

Finally, I was also using a lidocaine patch on face, nasal irrigation with salt water, and then finally clove oil. Last night I called endo again, saying that I was going to go to the ER after clove oil wore off, unless there was another suggestion

The endo prescribed a three-day course of steroids. It helped last night and I slept today. Still very painful right now after some hot tea. Took pain meds and ice on face, but really swollen over tooth by nose on face.

Any comments? Just wait till doc is in tomorrow? Only one Lorazepam left, won't sleep without it, but two more steroid pills, which do help. Should I double up steroids?

No do not double up on the steriods. It can be dangerous. Take one. If the pain is too much to bear go to the ER. They will help u for sure. Good luck!!!!
