Wisdom teeth questions...?!

Question:

Wisdom teeth questions...?

My first wisdom tooth started coming in today (it's a sizable white point), and I have a few questions:

1. It hurts/aches enough to be annoying, and as far as I can tell, it's mainly just the topside of the gum. Is this normal, and do pain pills really help?

2. How can you keep the area clean and free of infection if it hurts too much to attack it with a brush?

Thanks!

EDIT: Just to clarify, at the moment I have no reason to believe there's something wrong with the way it's coming in. The adjacent tooth feels fine.

Answers:

Yes this is normal. If its annoying you now it will probably continue to annoy you.

Unless your using something to truely numb it, I dont think pain pills will help, in this case your gums are stretching, you can't stop it from doing so or stop the pain that comes with it.

Attacking it with a brush might be whats best tho,...wisdom teeth growing in is like a baby when its teething. You have to give it something to chew on to help its teeth break in. Your tooth will grow out faster and you wont have to endure the pain as long as you would not touching it. In fact It'd be like preserving it that way.

Brushing it and chewing on ice might be the best things for you. Ice is a good number..^_^

But if you cant bare touching it I guess mouth wash a few times a day should help.

Try calling your local clinic, see if someone can give a few tips, its what I remember my Mom doing when I was a kid.
