Tongue Crib Help?!?
Hey Im getting braces tommorow and I might get a tongue crib because Im a tongue thruster. Does it hurt, and will it affect my talking??

I work in an orthodontic lab and we make several different types of habit appliances. Some are more bulky than others and some have spikes on them to train you not to tongue thrust. Depending on which type you get it may or may not hurt. You probably will talk a little funny for a while till you get use to it. Even braces and retainers can affect your speech until you get use to them. If you do get a tongue crib they can also add a spinner which is further back in the roof of your mouth and has a little bead on it to help train your tongue :P
