is it possible that this is my jaw I am feeling with my toothpic.? I am not going in more than the edge of the gumline.

Answers:

Have your dentist take an X-ray. If there are any extra roots, it would show up on the X-ray.

Most people have only 3 roots on their upper molars, and 2 on the bottom molars. But it's not unheard of to have extra roots (though pretty rare). So go in for a post-operative follow-up and an X-ray, and that would be definitive.

Hope you feel better, and good luck.
