How does a dentist put on a crown?!

Question:

How does a dentist put on a crown?

Like, what's the process & what does he actually do?

Answers:

They numb the tooth. Use a little wire to make a pocket around the tooth and then shape the tooth so that the crown can fit over it. Once they are happy with their work they will make an impression of the tooth and note the color of the surrounding teeth. Then they place a temporary crown and you come back when the dental lab has made your tooth. They numb it again (I think) and then glue the new tooth onto the stub of the old tooth. The most painful part is paying for it- mine cost $600.00 and I have no dental insurance that covers them!
