What is the longest you have gone without seeing the dentist? What was the worst!

Question: ...for waiting for so long?

Answers: ...for waiting for so long?

Well I went from 17 to about 22 without seeing a dentist. I started getting interested in the dental field at about 19. I was doing a home study course on dental assiting and got really into it. Then I started working in the field at about 21. I needed a lot of work. 5 years was a long time and I needed fillings on almost every tooth. I broke 2 teeth needed a root canal on one. Also I have 1 inlay and one onlay. So for 23 I have had a lot of work done. I also promised myself I will NEVER let my kids go that long. A toothache is the WORST feeling I have ever had. The good news from working in the profession I know brush 2 or 3 times daily and floss and have been cavity free for almost 2 years now! Yay me!

In my time as a dental professional I have seen many people go 10-20 years without seeing a dentist. Most have to have major work including extractions done. Some get by with just a deep cleaning and a cavity or two. Why would you wait so long though??

The longest i went without seeing a dentist was about 2 years and i had a big pain in the back of mine and that's when i realized that i had a big hole in the back of my tooth so when i went to the dentist i had to get a root canile

My husband put off seeing a dentist for three years and when he finally got around to going he needed to have a root canal procedure done. He kept having to go back to the specialist several times. It's so not worth it. You should visit the dentist every six months.

Generally you will spend A LOT more money, time and energy making up for all the time you missed. Keep in mind that usually by the time a tooth actually hurts, decay has already got near the nerve of the tooth and root canal therapy may be needed or the tooth cannot be saved. I see the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality a lot. Well how do you know it "ain't broke" if you do not go to the dentist regularly. Really bad things can happen and are likely to happen. In a rare occasion people get off lucky.

I can not remember how long but I remember
how long he chewed me out and how much
he caused me to suffer. Suffering hurts.
