Bad root canal and problems years later?!?!?!

Question: I had a root canal on a molar 10 years ago. My dentist was terrible, but he was our neighbor, so my family didn't know how to "dump" him without him finding out. The first root canal "didn't take"--his words. I had terrible pain and within a year, the crown fell out, along with HALF MY TOOTH. He did another RC, and put another crown on it, which looks and feels gigantic. Every dentist I've seen since then has been horrified, but I can never seem to afford to fix it. Now, I'm having pain again--if I inhale through my mouth, I get a sickening, exposed-nerve sensation in that tooth. It doesn't look too pretty in that area of my mouth either. I don't currently have dental insurance, but I'm scared that this could be a serious problem, and could maybe even affect more than just that tooth. I don't want all of my teeth to rot out of my head!! If anyone has any advice, about my tooth problem and about my seeing a dentist when I'm broke problem, I'd really appreciate it.

You have suffered enough. Pain, especially nerve/dental pain is agony.

Just get the tooth pulled. Its less expensive and you will be out of pain. Then down the road when you can afford it, get an implant or a bridge.

I have had several bad experiences like yours. So I really feel for you.

Best Of Luck :)

*cough lawsuit cough cough* sue your old dentist for enough $$ to cover repairs. that's my recomendation. otherwise i got nothn.
