Permanent retainers?!
Question: my friend told me that she has a permanent retainer thing. like some wire that they glued to her teeth. does anyone recommend those? or have any advice about them?
i hate wearing my retainer (im supposed to wear it all the time) because it makes me talk weird haha. i do wear it at night but i think the one that just stays in all the time seems easier

I have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth, but I still have to wear a clear plastic retainer at night. Your orthodontist knows your teeth, and what is best for them, which is why he didn't choose for you a permanent retainer. Honestly, the permanent retainers aren't that strong. Since bottom teeth can move easily after you get your braces off, they need some time of support to make sure they don't move. It's like a "back up plan" for retainers. The type you wear are the ones that are working the most, but the permanent retainer is just there so you don't have to wear another type of retainer 24/7. It is just "constant" so no significant amount of moving will happen.
