Have you ever had a cavity filled?!

Question: I'm having two cavitites filled tomorrow.
I hate needles and pain.
I've had two teeth pulled. Numbing shots were involved. I was stuck about 8 times.
What is it like when you have a cavity filled? Is it like having teeth pulled?
The cavities are on the top of my teeth and pretty small.

It's very unlikely you'll need more than one injection per tooth. Best is to close your eyes and relax. Many patients tense up and that makes the injection tougher than it needs to be.
Compared to having a tooth pulled--it's noisier, but there should be less feeling of pressure.
If the dentist has achieved good anesthesia, neither should hurt.

Good luck,

Usually, the dentist will put a minty paste on your gum to semi-numb it so you don't feel the needle to much. Then he will give you one or two shots to numb the area around that tooth. Then he will drill out the cavity and then fill it with the amalgam (either silver or white).

Your lip (or cheek) should be un-numb about 1-2 hours after the procedure.

You guys get pain-killers for cavities!!!??? Man, what's happened to this country!? And yeah, they sting a bit.
