Braces question?!?! orthodontists help!?

ok so the ortho wants me to get bottom and top braces and rubber bands and a palet expander..since I'm getting rubber bands to i absolutely need to get bottom braces even though my bottom teeth are fine? can they just put the two rubber band things on my back teeth and put the rubber bands on those instead of getting bottom braces and costing my mom 2,000 more dollars? please help!

I am no expert. I did however work at a dental office for 6 years. One of the reasons that you need braces on the bottom even though your bottom teeth are fine. Is probably the same reason they told me, because my top were fine and only a couple of my bottom teeth needed straightening. You have to make sure that both your top and bottom jaw are aligned correctly and when you change the upper palet you need to make sure that your lower is still in line. Hope that helps some.
