I have a question about my braces?!

Question: Okay so I have the rubberbands in my mouth (the thicker ones) and there's two (one on each side of my mouthh). How long will I have to wear them to get my braces off? I have perfectly straight teeth, with a slight overbite. Please help, I really want to know when I can get them off!!

Your teeth are straight in each arch, but the slight protrusion that you have is what the elastics are correcting. How long they will be on is totally dependent on how well you wear your elastics. This part is up to you! Every hour that you don't wear them reverses an hour that you have worn them. If you are inconsistent in wearing them, eventually the teeth resist moving and won't be corrected. So persevere, wear them all the time, and you will be finished soon.

It's impossible to give a timetable even with a slight protrusion. I have had patients who finish with elastics in 2 to 3 months and some take 3 years. Again, it has to do with how well they are worn. So do your homework and you will have them off soon.

You need to ask your orthodontist this, noone on here can give you the answer to the amount of time you'll wear your braces.

They know more than we do.

Hmm ( : i Aswell have braces, & thouse elastic bands.. They sometimes have to stay on a bit longer,... Even if your teeth are straight ( :.. because they have to be absoulute PERFECT.. Before getting them, off, don't worry you'll get them off soon ( : Okay Pal, It won't be too much longer my freind.. Good Luck:-)

Keep on wearing them, or else it will take longer for the braces to come off! Trust me on this. =]

As the other user said it will be best to ask your orthodontist, but I had to go through braces for 7 years, so I might be able to help.

It kind of depends on how well you treat your teeth and braces. I left retainer out for a good 3 or so months and had to go back in bottom braces for 4 months to fix it. So the more you follow the instructions on the rubber bands and when you are supposed to keep them in and such, the sooner you might get out of them, but you made need a retainer just for a while.

Hope that helped, even if just a little!

i just got mine off and my teeth were straight to he said im done but you need to wear these for a while to make them stay straight otherwise your teeth would go back to the way the were

its just making them stay for good thats all and the more you were them the faster you get them off he told me i had to were them for 2 months i only had to for 3 weeks because i were they so much

he said most people forget to wear them
