The layer of your tooth under the enamel is called the 'dentin,' it is baturally a brown-yellow color. As the toothpaste, or whitening agent scrubs away--or thins-- at your enamel, you are bringing the dentin closer to the surface.
You could do an in-office bleaching session, or see if an office nearby has at-home bleaching kits. Our office offers both to our patients.
