I had a filling a month ago...?!

Question: I had my second filling a about a month ago, and now all of a sudden the injection sight (for the Novocaine) is really sore. It turned into what looks like a, canker sore. I get canker sores all the time but they never hurt like this, and this is a different type of pain. If I hit it with food or my tongue it feels like someone is still pushing a needle into my mouth. This is only my second filling, the first time I got one, this didn't happen. Is this normal? Could it be infected? Thanks.

You will need to call your dental office and schedule an appointment for them to take a look at the sore you're describing. Only until someone examines you, will they be able to tell what is really going on. Your symptom is not normal post op from a filling.

never happend to me......i would go to the dentist

That is strange, usually if it is pain due to injection it is sore after the anesthetic wears off.

This is not likely from the injection--not a month later. You should have the tooth checked--could be the cavity was deep enough that the pulp of the tooth died and now you're seeing a gum boil from the abscessed tooth.

call you dentist tomorrow and get in ASAP so the pain can stop. You could have an infection or a reaction to something at the injection site or you may have just irritated it by eating acidic foods. Only a dentist can tell you for sure. I doubt it's serious but needs to be checked out in case you need antibiotics or need future procedures.
