Dental question?!

Question:

Dental question?

I went to the dentist for a root canal.the tooth had only one nerve.I sat in the chair for about 30 minutes while the numbing was taking place and while the dr.was doing other patients.my question is about how long should it take to do the root canal since it was a small tooth with one nerve.I am not exagerating but he was actually hands on in my mouth for about seven minutes.I got charged $585 for the service and my tooth is getting sore again.could I have been hooked and crooked?thanks for your time.

Answers:

Well, did he place a filling afterwards or a temp. fill and you have to go back? Some dentists will begin a root canal and finish it when they put the permanent fill and crown on. Otherwise, this doesn't sound like a full root canal was done. The dentist should have drilled out the decay and into the nerve space. Used files to clean the nerve areas out/remove the nerve. Clean the canal w/ fluid and then fill the canal. THEN, place a filling. Some dentists start root canals going only to the remove the nerve stage and place a temp fill and then finish at the next appointment if it was an emergency or he was short on time. You need to check.
