Can I take Ibuprofen with Cephalexin 500mg?!

Question: Ibuprofen and cephalexin are two unrelated non-interacting medications, and thus can be taken together just fine. Ibuprofen is an NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug) and cephalexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic. All NSAID's have a tendency to upset the GI tract and thus should be taken with food. Most antibiotics can cause upset stomach so it wouldn't hurt to take that with food as well. To reduce the risk of compounding these side effects, I would recommend separating the doses. This isn't a question for a doctor. If you have further concern regarding this you should call any local pharmacy and they will be happy to help you.

This is a question for a licensed doctor, not a bunch of yahoo's

R3D is right on--either a physician, or you could call a 24 hour Walgreen's and ask a pharmacist. Not us knuckleheads.

Look it up on webmd.com I think you can though. Don't quote me but check first.

Yes you can take it there is no contra indications to take those together...Cephalexin in an Antibiotic and Iboprufen is a anelgesic and combination of these two are often prescribed by dentists...the next time you have a question about taking medicine ask your own doctor or dentist...

yes you can im on it right now cephalexin and ibuprofen because i have an abcess

always an anti biotic & anti infalmetry is combined for any painful condions. Just a pain killer or anti biotic does not help.
