My tooth hurts!?!

Question:

My tooth hurts!?

This is a weird one, my tooth really hurts when i 'jar' something, ie if i jump or stamp my foot etc... its not sore to touch or eat or anything, if feels painful only from a sharp blow, it kinda feels as if its loose but its not...anyone have any ideas what it might be?

Answers:

If you clench or grind your teeth during the day or when you are asleep, your teeth become sensitive to hot, cold, sugar, talking or, sometimes, just plain hurt. If you are unaware that you clench or grind, try to think about it durning the day and consciously stop yourself from doing it. If you wake up in the morning and your jaw or teeth hurt, or you have a headache, chances are, you were clenching or grinding your teeth in your sleep.

Have your dentist take a look to rule out other problems like periodontal diseases or cavities. If your pain is just becuase of clenching or grinding, your dentist will evaluate this and have a nightguard made for you to protect your teeth and surrounding structures.
