Tooth Ache?!

Question: I have had a tooth ache the past few days, and I've been waking up every 4 hours in the night. I am not getting good rest, and I've been waiting to go to a dentist. I'm hoping to go to one tomorrow, but I need to get through the night. I have took about 12 Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and some other pill equivalent to ibuprofen, I forget the name of it. So that's about 12 pills in a 11-12 hour span. I do not want to take any more painkillers tonight, are there any remedies that can get me through the night for a good 8-9 hour sleep with out waking up all the time? If not, would taking another extra strength Advil hurt, since I took one about 3 hours ago? I just don't like consuming too many pills...

And, I had to get a root canal done on my tooth about a year ago, because the dentist messed my tooth up, so I had to get one. the pain sometime comes back on this tooth (the tooth that is aching right now) and I notice there is a big hole in that tooth where the root canal was. Is this normal?

Hope this link helps you with all information regarding your teeth.Try out http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/ for more details.

yeah..i sufferd the same thing..

Use clove oil. You can probably buy a small bottle somewhere near you. Place it on a cotton ball or something. Make sure not to swallow. Place it on the aching area. And no, that doesn't sound very normal. You really should have it checked.

You're pretty close to overdosing on the painkillers, so I wouldn't do any more.

I agree, clove oil might help you. Or just take an OTC sleep aid (one without any additional painkiller in it).

Be very careful with the Tylenol ... taking too much can cause liver damage.

Ultimately you will see your dentist and get a repair and some antibiotics as well as something for pain.

Try a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water to swish in your mouth ... and you can also use Anbesol OTC ... Advil is always a safe bet because it reduces imflamation and controls pain.

Get to a dentist asap. Just went thru this last week. If you have any aleve around take some as it is an anti-inflammatory as well as a pain reliever. Don't wait. Mine turned into a major abcess, went from the original tooth to involving three. Hope you have insurance, mine's going to run about $4500 out-of-pocket.
If all else fails, get a half pint of booze and down it. DO NOT DO THE BOOZE THING IF YOUR PAIN MEDS HAVE ANY, REPEAT ANY, KIND OF EXTRA STRENGTH!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with what you decide.

Don't take that Many pills,it will screw up your stomic, and your liver make shure you eat something as soon as passable, don't do it now but I would have drank Lot's of booze,or smoke some pot.No the hole where your root canal was should have a filling in it, if you can go to the pharmacy and get chloriseptic or talk to the pharmacist, they will get you something that helps,SO many pills will fry your insides.Hope you feel better soon, wish I could help more,Scott

toothpain is natural just take the pain and learn to work around it like the 50 trillion humans before you did

if you have insurance (or spare money to use) you can go to the emergency room of any hospital, and they will give you a couple shots of novacaine around the infected tooth. that could help out a lot, especially to get some rest.

otherwise, i remember having a really bad toothache when i was a kid, and what i did was get a bunch of toilet paper, and folded it into a thick, small square, and bit down on it. the pressure relieved so much pain. it worked wonders. try swishing with salt water before hand too, it really will help.

and yes the big hole is normal from a root canal, they drill out most of the tooth, and the tooth is left hollow. then they place a sealant and crown over it.

good luck, hope you feel better :)
