Jaw troubles!?!

Question: The past year or so I have had random jaw clicking. Now when I wake up in the morning, it locks up. My jaw clicks and pops. I have an appt. made for Feb.,but should I try to get in sooner? I still have my wisdom teeth if that matters.

If it locks up, you should probably call your dentist and tell them what's going on, try to get an appointment sooner. If your jaw slips completely out of place, it can make it where you can't open your mouth. That, obviously, will make it harder to treat. Having TMJ trouble at any age does not mean that you will have to have your jaw "broken" In some cases, yes, that needs to be done, but not in all. The longer you wait to treat the problem, the worse it can get. The worse it gets, the greater the chances of having to have surgery to fix it. At this point, you may be able to get away with wearing an appliance for a while, to line your jaws up correctly, and then having braces. Typically, orthodontics is the only way to fix it permanently. No one besides your dentist can tell you for sure what needs to be done.

you may have tmj, but my jaw cracks, its kind of like cracking your knuckles, i can do it whenever i want and sometimes it happens on its own.

No, wait till you see the Dentist at your regular time. I had that for quite awhile when I was younger. Pretty scary as sometimes it would really crack when eating and feel like it was out of place. That would also hurt. It went away in time which is probably what will happen with you.

it most likely tmj

i have it and had to get braces and a whole mouth full of metal
lol
do you have to reajust your jaw to be able to open it all the way?
if so, it is probably tmj

if you are older than 18ish then to fix it they break the jaw and replace it again in sergery.

but it all depends on how much it bothers you
i would go see a dentist

goodluck
