Dental Fillings : Fraud???!

Question: During my recent dentist visit - I had to get a filling replaced that was causing a "zing" in my tooth whenever I had something grainy or chewy. THERE WAS NO PAIN of any kind. I knew that it was probably my filling. Well, during my recent visit to this NEW dentist - he filled my tooth (LEVEL 3- Resin) - my previous filling was a level 2. He didn't state that I had any dammage or decay of anykind - so WHY would he do that???? I know that there was no decay or anything because prior to scheduling the appointment for the filling he reviewed my X-ray and confirmed that it was an old filling - AGAIN - he stated nothing about the presence of decay - bacteria - or damage.

The bill came to $200 for ONE filling. I am TICKED!

Shouldn't he have replaced my filling with the same level resin???

I feel DUPED, HORNSWAGGLED, and CHEATED to say the least.

While I don't understand the 'levels' of fillings (surfaces?), the dentist should have advised you of his findings. If a filling needed to be replaced, you should have been told... and why.

If it was a three-surface composite resin filling, the fee is a little high, but not too bad. The 'white' fillings cost more than the 'silver' ones.

:)

wow, why did you complaint about the ZING?
I think you got off cheap.

He still had to re-do all the work. I am sure that some of this was consultation fee, set-up fee. Perhaps he wanted this filling to last the rest of your life.

He should have discussed this with you before doing the procedure. $200.00 isn't unreasonable for a level 3 Resin however.
