Can teeth get dehydrated?!


Question: i just noticed that i have a small white spot on one of my teeth and i read that they could get dehydrated--is that true? i dont think its plaque or anything either because i brush my teeth twice a day. ive been sick the past couple of days and havent been able to breathe through my nose and only my mouth. HELP! thanks :)

Yes, your teeth can get dehydrated. You can notice this the most in the morning after breathing through your mouth all night or after using a whitening solution. After your tooth rehydrates the color returns to normal. Dehydration of the enamel looks like white spots. It is not the type of dehydration that you can drink more water and it is better... the tooth just gets dried out. Don't worry they should return to normal shortly.

Your enamel layer found on the surface of each tooth can be wearing out. This happens when you consume too many foods high in acid such as soda and candy.

How would you know? Does it send up a flag??

you have a small white spot on your teeth? i think it maybe a sign of a mild hypoplasia.

you might not be eating well... right diet maybe?

not too much , not too little... just right
