Braces when I'm 34?!

Question: ok i just want every adults who ever had braces while an adults opinion. Should i or shouldnt i get braces. Some facts: im 34, will be 35 this month, i have the oppurtunity to get braces (meaning no outta pocket expences for me). I am very very self-consious though so i dont know how i will be able to wear them for 2 years. I would just like to know if you had them, if you would do it again or not? Thanks

yes. it was a no-brainer for me. i figured, i could either have braces for a couple of years & then have perfect teeth for the rest of my life or i could save myself some embarrasment (which turned out to be none at all), but then i'd have to live with the embarrasment of having crooked teeth forever. go for it. treatment's pretty expensive, so the opportunity to get it for free probably won't come again. good luck, ENJOY!

I am getting braces very soon also, I am very self conscious like you and was worried. I have many friends that have braces and they are so beautiful after they get them off. I would definitely get braces if I were you, although you will have them for two years, the results will be absolutely wonderful after you get them off!

get invisalign. will be more $
if not go for ceramic brackets.

get the invisible ones.. they work just the same

My husband got them when he was 34 also. He is 36 now, they are gone but he still wears a retainer. I would say the only problem he had was the constant teeth brushing. It's kind of hard when you work 40hrs a week. He used to keep a toothbrush in his car at all times for emergencies. Also there are certain foods he couldn't eat. It sort of grossed me out sometimes to kiss him because food always got stuck in them and they made his breath smell funny.
In the end he was very happy with the results, he had a gap in his front teeth, now his smile looks great! I think its worth it.

I was in my 20's when I got my braces, and if I had to do it again -- yes I would get the braces. I had the ceramic/clear braces -- they were nice because you didn't see all the metal. People who were up close could tell that I had braces but that was it. Being that you are older -- you will probably do a much better job listening and following what the orthodontist's instructions as well as cleaning your teeth. I was told that I would have to have my braces for 2 years . . . I only had them on for approx 18 months.
I would do it all over again -- I love my straight teeth!!

Get them! Did you know that 25% of people with braces are adults? You'll be happy in the end.

P.S. - You said they were too bad for invisiline, but maybe after a little while with normal braces you can switch over
