A lot of your post-op pain depends on your aftercare. Here are a few things to get ready for in preparation for tomorrow.
1. Make sure you have a ton of clear liquids on hand. Broth,
jello, CLEAR juices are all good. You want to stay well
hydrated so start drinking plenty as soon as you get home.
2. DO NOT USE A STRAW or smoke for a week after the
procedure. This will increase the risk of "dry socket" which
is very painful.
3. Have ice packs or frozen bags of peas to use as
cold compresses on your face. 15-20 minutes on one side
and then switch. Do this for the first 24 hours. Very
important for swelling and pain.
4. Take the pain meds the doctor prescribes. Don't wait for
the pain to get bad. Keep it in your system (you may want
to keep a pencil/paper and write it down when you take
it so you don't take it too often).....this will keep the pain
from getting the upper hand.
5. Get some hand-towels to keep on your pillow. You will
ooze blood for a couple of days. Don't worry, though. It
is blood mixed with saliva, so it will seem like a lot more
than it actually is.
6. Don't rinse hard or brush back there for several days. Do
keep your mouth clean, but no vigorous rinsing or spitting.
Again, this is dry-socket prevention. No harsh mouth
washes, either. Warm salt water only.
7. After a day or so, you can start trying soft foods, but be
careful. Don't overdo it.
8. Take all your antibiotics (since you have an infection, I am
assuming he will put you on these). Don't stop taking them
once you feel better or your infection can come back. Also,
if you are on birth control, be aware that antibiotics can
decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Use
extra precautions.

I know this is a lot of info, but I tried to cover everything.
Good Luck.....You will do fine!!!

Mine were impacted & infected. I was out on pain killers for three days, and back to normal after a week.

I had a friend whose were impacted but not infected. She never used any painkillers, and was swollen, but otherwise back to normal the next day.

I think a lot of it depends on the patient - some of us recover faster than others. I think a lot of if also depends on the surgeon - a good one will make it less painful and you'll heal more quickly.

10 years ago I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. I went to a dental surgeon and he put me to sleep for it. I was sore for a week. It took a few months to heal completely. But it was worth it.

I had all 4 of mine out at once, and it wasn't that bad. It was sore for a few days and I looked a bit puffy in the jaws area, but it wasn't agonizing or anything. Don't worry too much. Good luck!

No sorry, they will not remove Wisdom Teeth until you have passed the Wisdom test! Some of us are wise and others are...............
Good Luck

There are many factors. Patients vary. Procedures vary - some are done with a local anesthetic, some knock you out totally. As you mention work, you are older than I was when I had mine taken out (about 17 or 18). The older the patient, the more the tooth roots grow, and the worse the recovery is. I had mine out left side one day, right side about a month later. There is quite a bit of soreness, especially when eating. This will last for a few weeks. Back to work? Get it done on a Friday, and you might be good to go on the Monday. Ask your surgeon.
