Urgent dental question?!

Question:

Urgent dental question?

My dad just went out on a motorcycle trip and got back yesterday. He is a dentist, and i got my teeth cleaned while he was gone. The hygentist found out that one of my teeth wasn't coming out that i was suppose to loose, and i had a cavity. I am worried about the procedure. I am 11. These problems are right next to eachother, i will be awake during it. How long will it take, How can i calm down, am i safe? I mean is this risky for me?

Answers:

Try to breathe deeply while you are in there, and say something positive to yourself as you sit there. you can focus on a place you'd like to be, like relaxing on the beach or whatever if that helps you. Personally, I look away from the dentist and look at the ceiling etc because I don't like to look at the dentist or the tools as it makes me more nervous.
Dentists will usually tell you what they are doing as they do it, and if they don't, ask. It helps to ask lots of questions if you are nervous, and they can explain everything to you. Don't be shy; dentists are used to people being nervous there, even if you have a dentist for a dad.
And if you are having your baby tooth, pulled, that will probably be so fast, you'll be done before you even know it. They will give you some stuff to numb you up so you won't feel a thing, and later, when your mouth isn't numb anymore you'll hardly feel a thing, you won't even really know you had something done.
And if you are having a cavity filled, you will feel pressure while they are working on your tooth, but it won't hurt either since they will numb you for that too. And likely, if it is a baby tooth that has a cavity, it will just be pulled. If you have a baby tooth that won't come out and a cavity right next to it, they can do that the same time, I think, and still no big deal.
You will be in and out of there pretty quick, too.
So, breath slowly and deeply, and try to think of pleasant things. Good luck!
