No. Just watch very closely what you are sawing. Do not look away whiel you are using the saw.

What kind of saw are you using. If you are using an electric make sure when your feeding the the wood or coming down on it tuck in your thumb and yes watch very carefully what you are doing. If you are using a hand one if it is your first time you might find that it doesn't cut as smooth so make sure if it gets stuck and you pull, your hands and fingers are not in the way. I never cut my self but I came close when my blade got stuck so don't get carried away with trying to get it free that you don't watch were your hands and finger are. good luck
