How long should Novocaine (or whatever was used) last?!

Question: I got 3 shots today. I had work on an upper tooth and a lower tooth.
How much longer should it be, because I'm hungry.
It's been 3 hours already.

The longest I have ever had it last was about 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

Go ahead and eat silly. The novacaine doesn't matter. My dad used to take me out to eat right after the dentist every time. aww.. those are good memories..
