Braces!?!?!?!
Question: Ok, so I'm getting my teeth re-evaluated tuesday! I've had my braces for over 2.5 years and I have a deep cut in my lip because of them. Here are the questions:
1. Will the cut in my lip go away if and when i get my braces of in about a week
2. how long does it take to get used to not having braces
3.is it worth it to get my teeth whitened (im 13)
4. my chin is abnormal and it sticks out and my orthodontist reccamended a surgery to make it smaller, how and what is it?

Hey hey, wow! Getting braces off soon it's so so so amazing!
1) The cut will definitely go away soon, until then do you have any brace wax? If not you can get it from CVS. And there's this mouth cream called Bonjela that is really good for cuts inside your mouth if it hurts.
2) It takes about 4 days to completely get used to not having braces, but it's not like when you get them when it hurts, it just feels slimy and weird. But don't worry, you won't care at all!
3) Hmmm... I'm 13 too and I want my teeth whitened, but wait to see what they look like. I didn't get stains where I had had braces but I know a few people who did. But if I were you I would just talk to your dentist about it.
4) Not too sure about the surgery, but I'm not sure if your orthodontist would be the best one to recommend surgery! I would ask your doctor, just make sure to find out things like whether it would leave a scar and whether it would alter all the work you've done on your teeth, you wouldn't want to go through all this just to have your teeth go back to being crooked!
Your welcome, I hope it all works out for you too. It might hurt a tiny bit when they take off the brackets but trust me, it's so worth it in the end!! Oh, and wear your retainers as much as possible, I have so many friends who forgot or couldn't be bothered so had to have a second round of braces, not good! X

2. it will be fun to lick ur teeth w. ur tounge for awhile but it will go away dont worry!!

4. talk to other doctors nd your parents dont listen to ur doc they always screw up!!
hmm, well I had braces when I was younger ...
1. the deep cut should go away even with braces, I mean it's a cut and your body heals in time, I'm thinking the braces is agitating the cut or something, I can't understand a reason why it wouldn't heal.
2. A retainer takes more getting used to, when it comes off the roof of your mouth has lacked oxygen for years, braces I found was easy compared to that
3. I drank a lot of coke so if you look hard you can see the white where the brace used to be, I don't think it's too noticeable now, you can also get like, Colgate whitening strips, so a dentist, being costly, probably not a good idea, depending on how bad it is.
4. I don't know about the chin thing ...
1. The mouth is one of the fastest healing parts of the body, and your cut should go away in about a week or two
2. It's different for every person, but for me it took about 2 weeks. The only weird thing is where the brackets used to be, it feels really empty, and you can now feel your actual teeth with your tongue.
3. Not at your age, try an electric toothbrush with like whitening tooth paste or something (arm and hammer, i dunno..?) or if your desperate those whitening strips
4. no clue, looks aren't everything, but if it matters to you that much, then you should research it.

1. the cut will heal pretty well as blood supply to the oral tissues is very good so oral injuries heal faster than any other part of the body. so dont worry about ur cut.
2. man r u telling me that u r going u miss ur braces? u will feel wonderful after the removal of braces.
3. getting the teeth whitened is an individual choice nd depending on ur wish only u can go for it. if u feel like go for it. yes the result is usuaally a good one.
4. if ur chin is aesthetically very unpleasing thenn u can go for a surgery. actually it depends on the case that is wheather ur chin is big{ then surgery is the only option} or it is more forwardly placed{ then a mechanical orthodontic device can be given}. if u doubt then take a second opinion. actually surgery is usually the last option as u have to go under the knife for the change but there is a drastic change in the appearance.
well back in the days i had braces for almost 4 yrs after they took them off i had to put retainer so my teeth wouldnt messed up
