I have small gaps on my top teeth.If I got braces for that, how long would I have to have them on?

I know that it probably depends, but what's your best estimate.

Hi,
I have had a gap in my front teeth for my whole life. When I was little it was very big but then as I grew up it started getting smaller. I was tired of waiting for it to close up so I decided to get braces. I am going to get them on in one week. The orthodontist said that I would have to have them on for 2 years. And the have a metal thing stuck into the back of my teeth for another 2 years to keep my space together. I hope this helps you.
