How long does it take for a root canal to heal?!

Question: Sometimes it can take years and years for a root treatment to settle. Patients often tell me that root treated teeth feel different to bite on - not painful but ever so slightly tender. My mum has root treatments that were done 20 years ago which have only just properly settled so that she can put pressure on those teeth without feeling anything.

You need to ask yourself whether you are happy to live with this compromise or lose the tooth

I have had extensive dental work. Including multiple root canals. Root canals usually heal very quickly. Maybe within a three days to a week.
