Here's a question for those who have had BRACES?!

Question: When the braces are on...pressure is constantly being applied to each tooth.

due to this, the teeth are constantly shifting..and are in a different PRESSURE POSITION if you get what I mean..while the braces are on.

When one of these braces break, let's say one of the wires breaks...there is a noticeable difference in the position of your teeth...they look different when you had the braces applying that pressure.

My question is...after you get your braces removed and all..due to the pressure NOT BEING THERE anymore...won't your teeth appear to return to normal positions?

Lets say you have an overbite..with the braces on your overbite seems to look less like an overbite...but once one of those braces breaks, your overbite seems to RETURN...until they are fixed again.

So if this is the case..then won't having the braces REMOVED cause your OVERBITE to originally return back to it's position?

You teeth will shift when you get your braces off. You should wear your retainer to keep them from shifting too much. I got my braces off over 10 years ago and my teeth are still shifting. They are no where near what they were prior to the braces, but they have moved some. You can't tell by looking at my smile that they have moved, but I can tell because the space in between some of my back teeth has changed. I'm considering getting the invisaline braces now.

No, that's why they tell you to wear your retainer. This is until your roots settle permanently into their new positions.

No. You have to wear a retainer after you get your braces off. You wear it nightly in the beginning, then your teeth realize that they are stuck where they are so they don't move and then you wear the retainer less and less.

it would take a long time however depending on the severity of the over bite( like mine for instance) i was given a retainer to wear at night etc to prevent this from occurring
