Have you ever known of ANYONE who died form an untreated dental abscess?!

Question: Yes, people do die from untreated dental abscesses. If you click the source link below, you will find an article about a 12 year old boy who died here in Baltimore from a dental abscess. You can go to the emergency room at the hospital and they will give you antibiotics. This is to help until you go see a dentist. Most emergency rooms will not actually treat the tooth. More than likely, you will need a root canal or an extraction. Good luck!!

No, but my mom had serious health and sinus issues. She was at high risk for a heart attack and stroke because of the state of her teeth.

Yes, it can happen. The infection can spead to the brain or other important bodily organs. I don't know of anyone this has happened to personally, but I have read about cases in the news. Google it.

It has been estimaged by anthropoligists, that cavemen often died of dental problems.

As a nurse, I have seen someone die from an untreated dental abscess. The ended up w/ meningitis. The bacteria from the abscess traveled to their brain.

Not to long ago, a young boy in Virginia died from meningitis from an untreated dental abscess because his mother could not afford to take him to a dentist.

If you have a dental abscess, get treated.

YES!! Many people don't realize that yu can die from dental infection (and fast!) Infections in the head can go quickly back into the brain, down to the heart, or cause so much swelling, that it closes off the airway. It's certainly is not to be messed with.
In the animal world, dental infection is the biggest killer after predation (being eaten by a bigger animal)
Over the last 20 years, I haven't lost anyone, but have had six end up in the hospital for at least a week on massive antibiotics ( one was only 7 years old). Scary stuff!

A friend's son had an untreated dental abscess. He was in the hospital for weeks. He almost died. If you or anyone has a dental infection, you must be treated immediately. If it is serious enough your doctor will send you to the emergency room for IV antibiotics. This is a very dangerous condition.

I haven't known anyone but neverless a lot of people in other posts have. I'd get an appointment for tomorrow at the dentists and just get the root canal done because the infection will spread. I had one myself a few months back and although it isn't a pleasant procedure, it only lasts a few minutes, around 5 or 10 and then its over. I wouldn't worry about dying today though.
