Root canal procedure very painful what to do next appointment?!

Question:

Root canal procedure very painful what to do next appointment?

I was told that nowadays root canal procedures are not painful as before, well my appointment yesterday was one of my worst in my life, I do not know if it was because the anesthesia was starting to wear off -I still felt all my face still numb though-or if it was just a simply nasty procedure, next week she has to finish and the appointment will be two hours long and I cannot imagine going through that pain again, she said she could give me more anesthesia next time if necessary but I am real worried if it would not help.Would it help to take good painkillers prior the appointment, any advice please!

Answers:

I had more pain before the root canal procedure then after...that part was easy...if you were in that much pain I would suggest finding a new dentist b/c it's not supposed to be overly painful...you should experience some general soreness but nothing major...good luck!!
