what is the likely result of dental treatment? can they repair it? if so what with and how much roughly will it cost :-(

Answers:

O.K, first let's seal the tooth until you can get to your Dentist (and you'll need to). Go to a drug store and buy an emergency detal kit for lost fillings. This will provide a temporary seal around the tooth, leaving it a little less vulnerable. If you keep it as is, you're risking infection. Even more than that, though, the rest of the tooth can crack then you'll REALLY be in some pain. Don't eat on that side of your mouth until a Dentist can take a look at it. Now, as far as what the Dentist will probably do, he'll likely pull the tooth. If it were a hairline fracture, the tooth could be saved. Not all fractured teeth need to be pulled. It depends on how far the crack has gone below the gumline. I have a hairline fracture and my Dentist just crowned it, stabilizing the tooth. I have no pain and can eat normally. It's unlikely but possible that your Dentist can put some composite in the empty space then seal it with a crown. The cost of an extraction is anywhere from 75.00 to 150.00. Depends on the Dentist. A crown will be much higher, 600.00 or 700.00. Since the tooth is in the back where nobody will see it, I recommend a stainless steel crown, which would be around 150.00. It will work as well as porceline or gold and will last about 8-10 years. Now, about the pain. Take some ibuprofen (advil). Three of the 200 mg. tablets every 4-6 hours. This should stop most of the pain and it works so much better than tylenol for this type of pain.
Hope this helps, good luck.
