What could be the worst-case scenario if you didn't have your wisdom tooth remov!

Question:

What could be the worst-case scenario if you didn't have your wisdom tooth removed?

Mine doesn't ache or hurt but there's some sort of hole in it and food particles stuck after I eat so I have to get rid of them. I'm afraid of the extraction though, seems like it will hurt a lot. How many days do it usually heal, after surgery, that is?

Answers:

Mines didn't hurt at first but slowly escalated in pain. I ignored them for 2 years. Eventually, I had jaw, head and ear aches. Not fun. Worse was getting woken up in the middle of the night. I had 2 fully in and 2 impacted (growing sideways, food constantly getting stuck).Once I had all 4 removed, the pain went with it. =) I was asleep so I didn't feel a thing nor remember much after. I went in w/the teeth and out of there w/o them and with no memory of it. It was quick. I was out for only 30 mins. I was fully back to myself and my regular diet in about a week. A soft diet for the first 5 days then built up to chewy foods then back to reg diet in 7 days. The pain meds were great. I barely felt anything with them. Getting an xray at the dentist can tell you if you need them out. It can cause overcrowding too if you don't have enough room. Good luck!
