Im getting braces in three weeks, when i get there will they tell me i need spac!

Question:

Im getting braces in three weeks, when i get there will they tell me i need spacers if i have a braces date?

Answers:

The spacers are usually placed about a week prior to the banding of the molars. You might want to call your orthodontist office and just ask if your appointment is for “spacer placement” that day, or if you are actually having your “ortho placement” then. If you have sufficient space between your molars and possibly the bi's, you won't need spacers. That doesn’t happen too often though. It just depends on your teeth and what your orthodontist plans to do that day. It won't hurt to just call and find out, they won't mind. You sound excited and that is fantastic, we always enjoy it when a patient wants to have their treatment, it makes our jobs satisfying and easier too. Good luck with your treatment!
