How much money will insurance pay for braces?!

Question: Hey I have cross-bite and the dentist said that insurance will help pay for braces - but i am wondering how much will it pay and if their are other ways of getting financial aid? When i was 12 i was hit in the mouth by a metal swing and it chipped my teeth and made my front two at different angles. I have trouble smiling and i don't mean to sound vain but i think that everyone deserves a good smile. Any ideas? I am 16 and am middle-classed (around $50,000 a year).

If your parents have dental insurance that covers ortho about 50% would be covered. However, many insurance plans do not cover ortho. Also, once you are over 18 if you are not a fulltime student you may not have any dental coverage. If your teeth are not crooked and just need reshaped you can have cosmetic bonding done or veneers put on. The bonding can be around $100-$300 per tooth, and veneers up to $1000 per tooth. Most all insurance companies do not cover either of those procedures since they are considered cosmetic. Talk to your parents about getting you into your general dentist for a check up and consult. He or she can tell you if ortho or cosmetics is an option for you. Keep smiling, most people don't have perfect teeth.

it depends what insurance and policy and stuff you have I think

It all depends on your insurance and what they cover.

it depends on your insurance... mine paid for $3500 out of the $5000

it all depends on your dental insurance provider what you can do is go to your dentist and ask them how much your insurance will cover and how much you have to pay thats what i did.
