Wisdom tooth!?!

Question: OMG I actually suicidal - I am on the NHS waiting list to have my widom teeth out and its like a 2 month wait thats absolutely ridiculous.

The thing is it keeps getting infected.

Infection No.1 I was on amoxy then it didnt work and Metra cleared it up

Infection No.2 I was on Metra then it didnt work so amoxy cleared it up

Infection No.3 I'm now on some other thing I cant remmeber the name of. The pain is excruciating and taking over my whole face im pacing up and down because I cant cope with how much it hurts- Ive just taken TWO Cuprofen max strength (equivelent to 4 ormal Ibuprofen) and it still hurts. The Extraction isn't until Feb 21st - I cant wait that long argh!

I started the new antibiotics today at 1pm and have noticed no difference - how long should i wait til I go back for a different anti biotic if this one doesnt work :-(

You have my sympathies, had the same trouble with a wisdom tooth that was on a nerve, my whole right hand side of my body was that sensitive it hurt my tooth to touch it and I had infection after infection with a 18 mth waiting list for hospital.I got my cousin who is a dental nurse to ring the hospital and i got an appointment the day after and had them out 2 days later,so I would say ring the hospital you can refer yourself and try the other ones that are local too
It does take about 24 hrs for the antibiotics to have any effect, and would go back on the last day they finish if it has not gone as you have to keep the levels up and in your system.
I found the best combination of tablets was ibuprofen and co codamol which you can take together but check with your chemist to confirm it is ok for you personally first.
I found rinsing with a glass of water with a few drops of tea tree oil helped and also a hot water bottle on your cheek, do not whatever you do try putting on some sore throat numbing spay thing that you find in your drawer thinking it will numb your gum it hurts like nothing on this earth but I thought it was worth a try one morning at 3am.
Good luck and I hope it is better soon

You should sue them

Try ringing in as an Emergency. surely they can't refuse that. Otherwise you can go to the hospital (dental section)
Good luck. I hope you soon get rid of that excruciating pain.
Try what I said.

Go back to your dentist or contact NHS direct and see where the next nearest emergency dental clinic is. The more you yell the more likely they will do something. Depending on where the infection is, you may like to try washing your mouth with hot salty water.

You started the antibiotic today at 1 and havent noticed a difference? They don't work that fast. Perhaps you should try to get some painkillers to help you deal with the pain. And stop going in for new antibiotics, if you use up all the different types on this infection then the doctors will have less types to perscribe you when you actually become seriously ill. You don't want to develop some sort of antibiotic resistant infection.

I had my wisdon teeth taken out very late and yes I experienced a series of infections that would develop in my mouth and move down into my respiratory tract. These go away in a few days like a cold. They can be treated with antibiotics but since the root of the problem remains it is pointless to waste money and good antibotics on them.

My advice would be to get some pain meds and deal with it best you can until you get them removed. And believe me once they're out you'll definately feel alot better.....unless you get dry socket.
