Why in the world does my friends breath smell so atrocious now that she has a to!

Question: My goodness! It smells like petting zoo in her mouth. She can brush her teeth, tongue, floss, rinse, etc. and it still stinks! Why?

Tongue piercings allow you to harbor more bacteria on your tongue where sulfur compounds that cause bad breath.
Its a trade off.
Cute piercing = bad breath.
Tell her to try a tongue scraper [be careful around piercing]
Or some alcohol free mouth wash [alcohol is bad for the piercing if it is not healed & it can make breath smell worse]
Also, strong mints generally can control the smell for a while.

that piercing can be infected.

Well, if she's got good hygiene, there should be no real reason that the tongue ring is the problem...unless she's lying to you. You need to keep any piercing, especially a tongue ring, extremely clean. The mouth is the dirtiest place on a person...other than the obvious. How long has she had it? Does she take the ring out to clean it?

She probably has an infection. That's the smell of her slowly decomposing tongue.

i have had my tongue ring for about 6 years and never had that problem. i take very good care of mine. when i brush my teeth a make sure to brush the top and the bottom ball and my tongue. use Listerine cuz it will kill the germs. if my tingue ring made my breath that bad i would prolly just take it out.

It's a bacteria trap!
She needs to keep it clean. Better yet - get rid of the stupid thing. They are nothing but trouble from a dental standpoint!

However, ball is in her court - if you want body piercings you need to be responsible for them.

ok she could have a infection of some kind or mabye she stop brushing her tongue and stuck to her teeth but alot people dont no most of the bad smell come from your tongue

there are more bacteria in your mouth than there are people in the world .a tounge ring helps to colect all this bacteria causing a bad breath get her to remove it and use a good mouth rince.and see what happens

Infection...
