Why would a dentist tell me I weren't suppose to know?!

Question:

Why would a dentist tell me I weren't suppose to know?

Five years ago, I went to the dental hospital in Cardiff after getting an Abcess while staying with friends there.
They took an exray, then told me I had a Wisdom Tooth growing sideways, and it would have to be delt with. ,
When I came home, I explained to my Dentist my about what had been said
and it was agreed he would book me into hospital to get it seen to.
Around ten months later I asked why I had not been sent an appointment and he said I did not need to go and i should not have been told that about my wisdom tooth in the first place.
My question to the UK Dental Profession What is is there any medical explanation for not needing to telling someone the outcome of their exrays and is it just nhs patients who are fed sh1t n kept in the dark? to anyone elses have with the nhs similar experiences with the NHS ?

Answers:

I have worked in the dental profession since I was out of high school. All of the doctors I have worked for, since I started, have always instructed patients about their wisdom teeth and whether or not to have them extracted. It is the rare occasion that a patient has enough room in his/her mouth for that set of teeth, unless they have had previous extractions. Especially if the tooth is erupting in a "tipped" position there would be a need to have it removed, to prevent decay due to inability to keep clean (not being able to brush thoroughly enough all the way back there).
I hope you haven't experienced any long-term problems resulting from their bad patient communication policies.
