my ortho sadi that for me, ill wear retainers all the time for the first 6 months after i got my braces off...then switch to only wearing them at night for a few months...then just once or twice a week at night
you should still be scheduling apppintments with your ortho, and since it seems like youve had your braces off quite a while, appts should be about every few months..
just keep on doing whatever he/she tells you to, because theyre the expert and after all that time and money with braces and retainer you really dont want to mess up your teeth now!!

heh, well my ortho. told me I will wear it the rest of my life, but I havn't worn it since I got my braces off and my teeth are just as straight as when I got them off...it has been 4 years now...

I have a lower retainer that's permanent... but my upper retainer was worn for 16 months following 6 years of braces.

Keep wearing it for at least a year, ask your dentist or get your parents to call the orthodontist and ask. I stopped wearing mine too soon, around 8 months after I got it, and some of my teeth are going crooked again.

i had retainers that i was supposed to wear and i wore them for a few months (both were removable)....my top teeth are fine, but due to my wisdom teeth trying to come in, my bottom teeth are kinda out of line....i would ask your orthodontist and do what they tell you to so your teeth stay straight

I was an orthodontist assistant, you need to wear it two years after your braces come off then occasionally overnight, you don't want to mess around with this, the teeth need this much time to reattach to the bone
