Does all metal need to be removed when getting dental x-rays?!

Question: I have clip-on hair extensions with metal clips, do I have to take them off before getting my x-rays?

If you are having regular x-rays, then probably not. If you are having a pano or ceph x-ray, then I'd venture to say yes, because those pictures that catch various areas of the head...it won't be a "clear" x-ray if you have metal extensions.

you might have to, depending how close they are to your face.....you can call the dentist office to ask before you go there.....or ask before they give the x-rays

yes

FOR SOME DENTAL X-RAYS IT'S NOT A PROBLEM. FOR OTHERS IT MAY BE. ASK YOUR DENTIST.

If having panoramic dental x-rays they'll ask you to remove your earrings. Regular dental x-rays they don't have you do that. I'm not really sure where the metal is on your head but if there are none on the nape of your neck or just above your ears, I'd guess no, you don't have to remove them.

If you have any oral (tongue, lip, etc.) piercings, you should remove them

Routine check-up xrays at general dentist's office, no.

Xray at a specialist's office (orthodontist, oral surgeon), maybe.

You may want to call ahead of time.

:)

when you get dental ex-rays done they have you take out/off all metal because it interfears with the ex-ray picture being taken... you may just want to not put in you extentions that day when you go to the dentisit
